The name of this rain gauge is deceptive. "Vermont Natural Brass Rain Gauge" implies it is made in Vermont by craftsmen. It has nothing to do with Vermont. It is made in China and distributed by a company in Maryland. Minus one star.br /br /That being said, the rain gauge itself is of decent quality. The vial is clearly marked with large numbers in English and metric units. All the parts you need to install it are there and it has clear instructions for those who can't figure out how to put in two screws. They even warn you to bring it in during freezing temperatures, lest the water left in the vial freezes and cracks it...even down south. (DUH!!) Replacement vials are available, tho, if this happens.br /br /Overall, it is a good buy. I just wish they would change the name.

The real McCoy - Joe Kelly - New England
Rain gauges are pretty simple and a plastic version is cheap money....but when you want something that is, well....nice....then you need this rain gauge made from brass and glass....durable materials to last forever and look good all thru the years. Yes, a lot of money perhaps....but it's the real McCoy, not a cheap plastic "wannabie".
